    Players are expected to:

    • Attend training sessions consistently
    • Arrive prepared and ready to learn
    • Support teammates and demonstrate positive sportsmanship
    • Give full effort during training and match play
    • Respect coaches, officials, and opponents

    Families are asked to support a positive sideline environment that reflects Citizen FC values.

  • Citizen FC training sessions focus on building confident, technically skilled players in a structured and positive environment.

    Training includes:

    • Ball mastery and technical development
    • Small-sided game play
    • Tactical awareness and decision making
    • Competitive match preparation

    Sessions are designed to challenge players while maintaining a fun and supportive team culture.

Girls Under 13 (GU13)

Conejo Valley Teams operate under shared Citizen FC standards for training, conduct, and competitive preparation.

Coach Josue Castillo

Head Coach, Citizen Football Club

Josue Castillo is an experienced youth soccer coach dedicated to developing players who compete with confidence, discipline, and a strong understanding of the game.

He brings tremendous coaching experience across competitive club soccer. Throughout his coaching career, he has led and supported teams across Ventura County, consistently helping players grow in both performance and love for the game.

He currently serves as Head Coach for a multitude of Citizen FC boys and girls team, known throughout the community as a leader amongst coaches for developing both girls and boys.

Coaching Philosophy

Coach Josue believes the best player development happens in an environment that is both fun and competitive.

His coaching emphasizes:

  • Building confidence through repetition and positive play

  • Developing strong technical fundamentals and decision-making

  • Encouraging an attacking style rooted in creativity and purpose

  • Teaching players how to read the game and create numerical advantages (2v1, 3v2)

  • Fostering team cohesion through communication and shared responsibility

Training sessions focus on both phases of the game, with particular attention to building out of the back, maintaining possession through safe and purposeful passing, and creating dynamic movement in the attacking third.
